roosevelt's life
Franklin D Roosevelt was was born on January 30, 1882 in Hyde, New York. For the first 8 years of his life Franklin was educated by private tutors. When he was 9 years old he attended his first public school, not in New York but in Germany. He only went to school in Germany because his parents were living there. When he started school he was a popular kid. A few years later he was sent off to Groton to go to a different school.
An important event in Franklin D Roosevelt’s life was when he became president. This was important because he was the only president during the Great Depression and also WWII. This was important because during the great depression the country was hit with an extremely large unemployment rate. Because of this many people had lost their jobs. On January 7, 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, but after that US manufacturing had started to grow again and the unemployment rate was falling.
Another important event in Franklin D Roosevelt’s life was when he wrote the Four Freedoms Speech. This was important because the four freedoms were goals of his and by sharing his goals with other people might be inspiring. This was also important because sharing your thoughts with other people is important, people might have agreed with his thoughts and i'm sure many did not but it was still a good thing to share his thoughts with many people. One other reason this was important is because freedom is a very important thing to talk about. I this that before this speech was written people may have felt they didn't have much freedom but after i think they did.
One other important event is when Franklin D Roosevelt went to met Winston Churchill. This was important because after that they began the long term correspondence. Because of this it developed a close working friendship and that is a good thing because they wouldnt fight about war or anything that was going on in that time period.
Roosevelt had a good life with everything that went on. He graduated in 1880, he had 6 children, and a wife. And most importantly he became president. Franklin died on April 12, 1945 because of a stroke.
